INSPIRATION BOARD: Land Of The Free
With the July 4th holiday coming up around the corner, we couldn’t help but get into a festive mood with this week’s INSPIRATION BOARD. Independence Day happens to be one of our favorite holidays of the year — and not only because it’s one of our birthdays! Since the holiday falls during the peak of summer, we’re usually blessed with a day full of great weather, and with the day off, plenty of time to spend with family and friends.
These fashionphiles showed exactly how to flaunt your American spirit with a mix of stars, stripes, denim, and attitude. We love a standout 4th of July piece together with something a little grungier to give the look some edge. Personally, we think the easiest, most flattering combo is a simpleflag tank paired with short denim cutoffs and oversized aviators, a la queen of cool Kate Bosworth.

HIGH/LOW CAN YOU GO?: Cutoffs
We’re not at all ashamed to admit that few things in life make us happier than ending our quest to find the perfect denim cutoffs for summer. In years past, we’ve always relied on upper shelf denim brands to supply us with the perfectly slouchy and destructed pair, only to be crushed when we discovered many were as expensive as pants at almost $200+ each (a cruel joke indeed).
Lucky for us, this year we’ve found a number of cutoffs that are totally affordable and still exactly what we look for style-wise, with slightly looser leg openings around the thigh and just the right amount of distress to keep things interesting. With all ringing under $200 — and some around just $20! — there’s a wash and a price for everyone.

DARE TO WEAR: Denim In Color
Colored denim has a recurring place in our wardrobe every time the Spring/Summer season rolls around, and definitely for good reason. On any day we want to punch up our bottom half, a pair of bright jeans can do just the trick — especially if we’re experimenting with monochromatic colorblocking, denim has a nice casualness to it that lends the same air to an outfit.
Given that, it seems like every year brands reinvent the style, whether its in a dustier palette like last year or the super bright hues we’re seeing currently. Of all the awesome candy-colored choices above, we’re having an impossible time picking a favorite!
